We believe that Canada’s First Peoples can realize their potential through strategic negotiations, community and economic development plans, initiatives and partnerships that are directed by the community and reflect their priorities.
With expertise spanning the three pillars of community development (economic, social & governance), our work aims to assist First Nations to achieve healthy, sustainable, working communities. Our methodology often focuses on using the partnership potential within a First Nation’s traditional territory to create opportunities for accelerated development.

Experienced Advisors
Conterra’s senior consultants, Chris Knight and John Balogh, each have over 25 years of experience working with and for First Nations in treaty and non-treaty processes and projects. This experience enables Conterra to guide communities through the initial planning and policy stages, or to design and deliver specific initiatives at any stage of a community’s development. Conterra’s roster of affiliated professionals provide additional expertise in such areas as bioregional mapping, land and resource stewardship, funding and partnership structure research, financial management and business development to aid in successful implementation.
